ILLEGAL DUMPING

September 9, 2021

Illegal Dumping

In the City of Parker it is illegal to allow any refuse to accumulate upon property that you own, or to be placed upon the property of another; this includes others dumpsters and garbage cans.   Do not  deposit, discard, throw, place or pile any refuse along or on any public property within the city, except those materials placed on the property for collection in a garbage container adjacent and contiguous to a public street, and trash shall be neatly stacked in the same location for collection as are the garbage containers only on days when service is provided and cans must be  removed that evening.

Any construction or building site shall be kept clean.  All debris or refuse must be confined in a specific area of the construction or building site. It shall be the responsibility of the individual obtaining the building permit and the general contractor to properly dispose of the construction debris or refuse on at least a weekly basis.  No construction debris shall be burned or buried or picked up by the City.

Any violation of this article is declared a public nuisance and a hazard to safety and health.  The violation of these provisions of the City Code is a misdemeanor and punishable by a fine of not more than $500.00 or by imprisonment for a period not exceeding 60 days, or by both.  Each day that any violation of any provision of this Code continues constitutes a separate offense.  In addition to the penalties provided, any condition in violation of any of the provisions of this Code may be abated by the city as provided by law; and each day that such condition continues shall be regarded as a new and separate offense.

Not only is this a nuisance, you are paying for garbage and trash service; these dumpers are stealing your services.  If you see someone dumping debris or putting their household garbage in someone else’s garbage can, dumpster or trash pile get as much information as you can;  tag numbers, pictures, vehicle make, model and color;  and call  Deena Brannon at (850) 871-4104  or e-mail her at drbrannon@cityofparker.com, as soon as possible.
